Growing up in a lower income, single family home, Founder Yvette Genie Lopez found refuge in art. At an early age she discovered the therapeutic benefits of art; whether it was drawing, taking photos, writing poems, songs, or music, Yvette found a way to make her circumstances manageable. Realizing how art could positively change moods & provide an outlet, she started utilizing art & other means of creativity in the work she did as a mentor, tutor, camp counselor, teacher, program coordinator, & coach. Pushing forward, Yvette was the first in her family to attend college & obtain a degree. Since then, Yvette has earned a bachelors degree in Family Psychology & a Master’s degree in HR & Organizational Behavior. To this day, she continues to utilize art & other forms of therapy as a way to empower herself, and in turn help to empower others, specifically children & youth.
